Getting Your Plumbing Repaired

A few months ago, I realized that our home had some serious plumbing issues. It seemed like our sinks were constantly clogged, and it was really frustrating to deal with. They were able to quickly identify the cause of the problem and flush out the drains in a jiffy. Avoid Unwanted Problems: 4 Ways A Plumber Can Keep Your Summer Problem-Free

If you're enjoying the summer break, you might not want to think about the plumbing. But now's the perfect time to think about the plumbing. A lot of things can go wrong with the plumbing during the summer. Some of the problems can be avoided with the right plumbing services. Here are four ways a plumber can help you avoid unwanted problems this summer.

Get a New Way to Wash the Dog

If you take care of your own dog grooming needs, it's time to have a utility sink installed in your garage. You might not realize this, but washing your dog in the tub can cause a lot of problems for your plumbing. It can also create a big mess in your house. Each time you wash the dog in your bathtub, you increase the risk for clogs. That's because all that hair flushes through the drains. But, when you install a utility sink, you can avoid the clogs. That's because you can have the sink attached to a gray-water hose, which will allow water to drain into your garden.

Keep the Mud Outside

If your kids like to play outside during the summer, the dirt may be contributing to clogs. This is especially true if your kids play in the mud. You may think that mud will wash right through the drains, but that's not necessarily the case. If there's too much mud going down the drain, it can get stuck inside the pipes. As it dries, the mud can cause your drains to clog. One way to keep the drains flowing this summer is to have your plumber install an outdoor shower. Your kids can clean off before they come into the house. Outdoor showers are also great for summer swim parties. Your guests can take a quick shower before they jump in the pool. That way your pool pump doesn't get clogged up with body lotion and oils.

Avoid Leaky Sprinkler Heads

If you haven't inspected your automatic sprinkler heads this summer, now's the time to do that. If your sprinkler heads are leaking, you could be wasting a lot of water. Not only that, but if you've got an underground sprinkler leak, you could be at risk for soil erosion. Check your automatic sprinkler heads and the surrounding area. If you see leaks from the sprinkler heads or notice soggy spots in the lawn, call a plumber right away. You'll need to have your sprinklers repaired before you waste more water.

Prep the Garbage Disposal

If you plan to have friends over this summer, make sure your garbage disposal is ready for the task. If your garbage disposal is dirt, or if the blades are dull, it might not be as effective as you need it to be. In fact, those types of problems increase your risk for clogs. If you're not sure about when your garbage disposal was last maintained, schedule a service call with the plumber.
